Gayle grew up in North Carolina and completed her undergraduate degree at UNC, Chapel Hill, and her masters and doctorate degrees at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She worked for many years as an administrator at the University of Tennessee. Getting her real estate license in 2003 after her move with husband, Hank, to Beech Mountain, she joined The Sterling Company. They currently work as a team. She has served on the Board of The Beech Mountain Club and is very active in many other club activities
